Groom Creek
Prescott National Forest
Prescott, Arizona
34.46918 -112.43797
The Groom Creek Horse Campground was designed for horse campers and day users. The picnic day-use is located down the road from the Horse Campground and designed for picnicking along the creek for the day. The campground and day-use areas are located in beautiful, pine covered, high elevation country in one of the most popular recreation areas in Arizona in the Bradshaw Ranger District.
The horse campground area has been recently renovated with 12 new corrals, tie-lines relocated and 2 additional water outlets added. Both a volunteer host and a volunteer custodian are on duty to assist visitors to the horse campground. The horse campground is quite large and suitable for even the largest RVs.
This is a great place with well maintained and traveled trails leading to the Haciampa creek to the south and west and trail 307 to the east. Trail 307 climbs to the Spruce Mountain lookout then loops back to the day use area on the East side of Old Senator Hwy (Mt. Vernon Avenue). The campsites are mostly pull through with drinking quality water strategically placed throughout the campground loop. The toilets are pit type and well maintained.
