Only 30 miles from Denver, Golden Gate Canyon offers easy access day use and horse camping along with wonderful views. Please follow all LNT guidelines so that this area remains open to equestrian users.

What to Expect

  • Aspen Meadows campground has two horse camping sites. Facilities include a water pump, vault toilets
  • Harmsen Ranch is a rental guest house with corrals for stock.
  • Horseback riders can utilize trails designated for multiple use (approximately 19 miles of Golden Gate Canyon's trails).
  • Nott Creek and Kriley Overlook have day use parking for horse trailers.

Rules and Regulations

  • Land Manager = Colorado State Parks
  • Out of state horses must have current Coggins and health papers

Follow I-70 west to exit 265 for highway 58. Take highway 58 west to highway 93. (highway 58 turns to highway 6 at this stop light). Follow highway 6 west to highway 119. Go north on 119 through Blackhawk to Gap Road (approximately 11 miles). Turn right on Gap Road to access Reverend’s Ridge and Aspen Meadow campgrounds.
