Your
Front Brake
Brakes aren’t
as sexy as suspension systems and they’re
generally overlooked, especially the front
brake. When I was first learning to bike I
was told, as most people are, “Never use the
front brake!” We were misinformed. Here are
a few tips on using the most powerful part
of your braking system.

To avoid a
painful endo, like the one above, avoid
using a death grip on the front brake. Panic
grabs are bad.
Gentle
feathering or pumping is a much better way
employ the front brake.
This exercise
will help you to develop a better feel for
the front brake.
Try going
down a steep hill using only the front brake
AND without skidding.
