Summer
Hiking Essential Gear
Summer is the
most popular time for get away from
civilization and hitting the trails. Beat
the heat and enjoy more by taking these
weather appropriate items on your next
adventure.

Water
– Plain H2O works great, add a little
electrolyte if you're really sweating.
Food
– Salty foods are always good and in hot
weather they also replace the salt you've
sweated away!
First
Aid Kit – Regardless of weather this should
go on every outing. Bandaids, ace wrap,
antiseptic, moleskin, etc.
Map
– Get one for your hiking area.

Flashlight/Spare
Batteries – It's much cooler in the evening
and you'll see many creatures that are also
beating the heat by coming out at night.
Hat/Sunscreen –
Because a sunburn is no fun. Keep the sun
off you and protect your skin.
Whistle
and/or Signal Mirror – For admiring and
emergency use.
Waterproof
Clothing – It rains even in the summer. Take
a poncho or jacket.
