Need to tie a load parallel to a a line and don't have a loop for a Prusik? Blake's Hitch can help. It's a friction hitch the same as the Prusik but it doesn't need a loop to function.
STEPS TO TIE BLAKE'S HITCH
#1
Wrap the working end of the hitch line around your main rope

#2
Do it again

#3
You need four loops around the main rope

#4
Take the working end and wrap it under the standing line and then up behind the first two loops

#5
Snug and tie off with a stopper knot

Ropes and the knots associated with rope, can be dangerous. If improperly handled, or tied, ropes can kill and you could be the victim! Always use rope with care and inspect and test any knots you tie. Respect ropes subject to a heavy load, especially your own climbing rope. The danger associated with ropes under load is often learned by painful experience.
