INSTRUCTIONS
to tie an
ALPINE BUTTERFLY KNOT
The
Alpine Butterfly, Farmer's Loop, and Lineman's
Loop are the same knots. Used to
create a loop that is easy to untie and can also
handle a load from multiple directions. When I
horse camp I often tie these butterfly knots in
my highline.
Safety:
Ropes and the
knots associated with rope, can be dangerous. If
improperly handled, or tied, ropes can kill and
you could be the victim! Always use rope with
care and inspect and test any knots you
tie. Respect ropes subject to a heavy load,
especially your own climbing rope. The danger
associated with ropes under load is often
learned by painful experience.
