Like the Figure 8 Loop the figure 8 knot is very easy to tie. This figure 8 knot is generally used as a stopper knot. It also doesn't jam easily and is usually easy to untie. Sometimes that can be a bad thing as is could come undone as well. Keep an eye on this one.

Safety:

Ropes and the knots associated with rope, can be dangerous. If improperly handled, or tied, ropes can kill and you could be the victim! Always use rope with care and  inspect and test any knots you tie. Respect ropes subject to a heavy load, especially your own climbing rope. The danger associated with ropes under load is often learned by painful experience.
