 Coal
Creek, Bellevue, WA

Trail Details

If you're pinched by either time or weather and cannot make it into
the cascades proper, Coal Creek at the base of Cougar Mountain, and
in the city limits of Bellevue, can make for a great walk. At 6
miles round trip and only 450 feet of elevation change it's a very
good time.

As you parallel along Coal Creek you'll see waterfalls, a surprising
feeling of wildness for being so close to town, and a few
remnants left from Coal Creek's former life as a bustling coal town
during the late 1800's.

Park at either the Red Town parking area on Lakemont Blvd or at the
Coal Creek Blvd trailhead. Of the two, Red Town is much larger and
in addition to restrooms also offers access to the network of trails
on Cougar Mountain.
