Cimarron Campground
Questa Ranger District, Carson National Forest
Cimarron
Campground is located in NE New Mexico north of the town of Cimarron,
about 7 miles from the McCrystal Campground. The climb up the mountain
is gradual and relatively easy. However, it is recommended you have good
tires and that the tires be inflated to the maximum capacity to prevent
tire damage and flats from the gravel road.
Campground amenities include: vault toilets, stock water, picnic tables, and fire pits. Highlines, pickets and portable corrals are all allowed for stock containment here. There are also a few corrals available for stock use. There is a camp host at Cimarron.
Riding here is suitable for all levels of riding. Open meadows (watch out for grazing cattle) and mountainous timbered areas are all easily accessible from camp.
