Northrup Creek Horse Camp
Clatsop State Forest, OR
Northrup Creek Horse Camp, completed in late 2005, is primarily designed for equestrian use but is also available for tent camping. The campground is located about 4 miles north of Highway 202, near milepost 35, on the Northrup Creek Forest Road. The 8 campsites have parking for a horse trailer and vehicle, a corral, and a tent or trailer site with table and fire ring. Across the road are also 3 campsites without horse facilities. Nearby is also a large parking area for vehicles with horse trailers and a picnic site, situated at the trail head for the Northrup Creek equestrian trail network.
Very nice and well maintained dedicated horse camping area. 8 total spots, several pull through spaces that could hold a large LQ rig, the remainder are back in camp sites but still quite large. Two toilets, two manure bins, potable well water and sturdy corrals round out this camp ground.
Trails here are well signed and maintained and radiate out run the horse camp and day use areas to the main 8.5 mile loop trail.
The campground is easy to find due to well placed signs on the main roads leading in to camp. There’s also a big day use area with its own toilet facilities, and mounting ramp for those who aren’t overnighting.
There are horse manure bins, a sealed vault toilet at the campground and
another at the picnic site, and a hand pump style drinking water source
in the campground.
Vehicle site: $10.00/night
