Salt Fork State Park
Cambridge, Ohio
Horse Camp Coordinates: 40.12154, -81.49476
Ohio's largest state park, Salt Fork is home to 12 plus miles of bridle trails that wind along and above the Salt Fork Reservoir.
Horsemen's camp has spots for 15 truck trailer rigs and has both wooded and open sites.
There is potable water for humans and stock water as well as toilets. There is also a concreted wash rack.
Salt Fork is said to have derived its name from a salt well used by Native Americans which was located near the southeastern corner of the park . Caves, such as Hosak's Cave, small waterfalls, and streams are found throughout the area.
The trails are nice, but can get muddy quick in rainy weather. There are several loops, but they are at least 12 miles long, so if you want a shorter ride it's out and back. Several areas exist where riders can take their horses to the lake; be cautious as the banks can be muddy.
