Located near
Middletown, Sebald is one of Butler County’s
metroparks and offers 6.17 miles of hiking
and horse riding trails throughout the park.
Of the four
trails are located at Sebald Park, three are
open to equestrian usage. The Butler County
OHC chapter has done a fabulous job in
marking and maintaining these trails.
Meadow Loop
(flat and easy, .94 miles) - Falls Loop
(Shallow creek crossing, slight easy climbs,
1.31 miles) - Hillside Loop (steep climbs
and some muddy spots, 2.26 miles)
A great loop
circuit can be made by taking the Meadow
Loop along Elk Creek from the parking area
to the Hillside Loop and them following the
lower Hillside Loop to the Falls Loop.
Return along the upper Hillside Loop back to
the Meadow Loop and back to the horseman’s
parking area.
The Foot Trail
loop (easy with slight climbs, .83 miles) is
closed to horse traffic but is well worth
the hike as it crosses several ravines and
through beautiful mature woods.
