Ruff Wear
Palisades Dog Pack

I got this to give Abby a job on our hikes. It
lets her carry her own water and snacks so that
I don’t have to. I think we both like it quite
a bit, when Abby sees me getting her pack out
she spins, jumps, and barks because she knows
she’s going for a long walk!
The construction of the pack is of a heavy
cordura type fabric. Similarly, the zippers are
also very robust. The only part of the pack that
I have concerns about are the two water
bladders. They’re made of a mylar type material
that seems quite delicate. I haven’t had any
issues with leaks as of this point but I do feel
that I need to take extra precautions when
filling or cleaning the bladders.
One of the features that I like best about the
pack is the removable saddlebags and harness. I
put the harness on separately from the
saddlebags which makes getting ready to go much
easier. I can also take the saddlebags off when
stopped so we both get a break from our packs.
As Abby is on the smaller side (30 lbs) she has
the small size pack that has a capacity of 610
cubic inches. The total capacity is divided
into - 2 pockets for the water bladders; 2 large
main compartments; 2 smaller pockets on the
outside of the bags; 2 small compartments on the
top lids of the main pockets. A note on the
zipper flaps: they consistently flip up and
negate any water resistance properties of the
pack, make sure you use baggies to keep things
dry.
Overall - Very pleased with the Palisades pack
and would recommend to anyone interested in
giving their dog a job.
