Welcome to one of Texas' best kept secrets - Caprock Canyons State Park.
The park offers day-use and camping facilities. Almost 90 miles of multi-use trails range from the very difficult in rugged terrain to trails with less than 3% grade. About 25 miles of the trails include cliffs and drop-offs, with steep climbs and descents that are recommended only for the experienced equestrian and mountain bike riders. There are 13 trails in all, including 6 along the Trail way, which are each approximately 10 miles long and provide parking lots at each trailhead.
The park's dazzling natural features include sandstone ridges,
rust-colored canyons carved by tributaries of the Red River, bizarre
pinnacles and hoodoos caused by erosion.
Wild Horse Camping Area for equestrians: The
equestrian camping area consists of 12 campsites with picnic tables,
fire rings, lantern post and hitching post. This area is served by a
large corral and 12 individual corrals, sized to accommodate 2-3 horses
each. Stock water for horses is provided in this area.
The park also has an
Equestrian Primitive area locates near the little Red River.
