LYNDON B. JOHNSON NATIONAL GRASSLANDS

LAT / LONG: 33.38538, -97.57085

The Grasslands contain over 22,000 acres of land managed by the U.S. Forest Service. There are 50 miles of well-marked, color-coded trails that expand over the varied terrain (prairie, plateaus, creekbeds, hills, valleys, forests) and offer a challenge to the novice or advanced rider. Many other unmarked trails exist for exploring - and all are sandy except for a few rocks while climbing elevations. There are fishing lakes and over 300 ponds in which to water horses, but there is no potable, running water and only primitive camping allowed (pack it in and pack it out). Currently no park fees.

The Cottonwood-Black Creek Hiking Trail is 4 miles long and connects the two lakes. It is rated moderately difficult. There are nearly 75 miles of multipurpose trails which run in the Cottonwood Lake vicinity.

TADRA Point is a designated trailhead camping facility that is a primary access point for the 75 mile LBJ Multiuse Trail system.  TADRA Point trailhead has 2 accessible restrooms, accessible horse ramp, 20 parking spurs, 6 pull through and 10 stock tethers.  Stock water is available, but drinking water is not available.  The Day Use fee is $4/vehicle/day.
