20 miles of trails easily accessed. Two main trails head out of the campground. Maple Canyon Trail begins nearby, leading to a small network of trails with excellent mountain and canyon views.
Whiting Campground is
located in a thick, shady grove of maples and cottonwoods 3 miles from
the town of Mapleton, Utah, elevation 5,400 feet. A perennial creek runs
alongside the site and summer wildflowers are plentiful.
This campground contains group,
single-family, and equestrian sites. The 3 Equestrian sites have picnic
tables, fire rings with grates, and cement site pads. Equestrian sites
have hitching rails. Vault toilets and potable water are provided, but
no garbage service. This is a pack it in, pack it out site. Campers must
bring their own trash bags. A campground host is onsite; roads and
parking spurs are paved.
