History buffs will enjoy a day of riding at Chippokes, the site of the one of the oldest working farms in the United States dating back to 1619.

Chippokes Plantation State Park has a dedicated equestrian trail system with access to about 10 miles for riding. Trails are primarily around farm fields and are suitable for novice riders.

Cedar Lane trail -1.2 miles - Runs adjacent to a park road
Equestrian trail - 8.2 miles
James River trail – 0.7 miles – includes a view point overlook of the James River
