Fishhawk Trailhead

Shoshone National Forest

The Fishhawk Trailhead is one of the more popular trailheads in the North Fork of the Shoshone River corridor area. Multiple trails lead from this area head north into the North Absaroka Wilderness and the Washakie Wilderness. There are several trails leading out of the Fishhawk Trailhead, including the Fishhawk Trail, Kitty Creek Trail and Goff Creek Trail. There are more trails to the east and west within a five mile radius which includes Grinnell Creek, Eagle Creek and Blackwater Creek.

Fishhawk is in grizzly country and as such tents and other soft sided shelters such as pop up trailers are not permitted.  Other than the grizzly issue Fishhawk is a popular starting point for riding in the Shoshone National Forest.

Camping amenities include potable well water, vault toilet, corrals, feed bunks, horse stalls and hitching rails. Corrals are approximately 24' x 28'. Stalls are 4' x 10' and also have a feed bunk. Bear boxes for storage of food or grain are also available and must be used for all food, beverages, coolers, livestock grain and other bear attractants.
