Arch
Rock Trail lies completely within the Norse
Peak Wilderness area. and as such must be
accessed from either the Greenwater River
Trail #1176 at the south end of Echo Lake,
or the Pacific Crest trail #2000 above
Airplane Meadows.
The
both ends the Arch Rock trail is very gentle
and pleasant. The middle of the trail,
however, is a different story. The midpoint
of trail #1187 is very steep and travels
over rocky talus (shale) slopes with poor
footing. Consider this a very challenging
trail that can be hard on pack stick and
human alike.
Elevations:
- 3900 feet at Echo
Lake
- 5950 feet at
Pacific Crest Trail #2000
NOTES:
- Northwest
Forest Pass is required for each
vehicle parked at the
Greenwater
or
Government Meadows trailheads.
- No motorized
vehicles or bicycles allowed.
- Use
established rings for campfires.
