Echo
Lake, located in the Norse Peak Wilderness
area, is a popular starting point for longer
overnight excursions but it's also a great
destination for day hikes or rides.
The
trail begins in an old growth forest area
and meanders along the Greenwater River with
several river crossings before reaching the
Norse Peak Wilderness boundary. Between 1.5
and 2.2 miles you’ll find the upper and
lower Greenwater Lakes (also known as the
Meeker Lakes). Shortly after after entering
the Norse Peak Wilderness the Lost Lake
trail (#1185) will be on your right and head
uphill. Stay to the left and downhill for
Echo Lake. About 5.5 miles into the trip
you’ll see the Maggie Creek Trail (#1186)
which connects to the Pacific Crest Trail
(#2000).
Most
camping areas are at the south end of Echo
Lake.
