Tiger
Mountain South has its own set of Equestrian
only trails separate from the more congested
bodies of trails at the Tiger West or Tiger
Summit Trailheads.
The
Tiger Mountain Trail that you’ll be on goes
from Tiger Mountain road over the old
Woods-Iverson Railroad grade as it climbs.
Near the top of the first peak the trail
will branch into a hiker only and a horse
only section. The views are similar on each
leg of these short sections. Both trails
meet again at the Hobart Gap.
Follow
the well signed Tiger Mountain Trail past
the powerlines and onto an abandoned logging
log that gradually becomes more improved.
Keep climbing uphill to the Carole Hapke
Lunch area. On the return leg take the
single track trail through an extensive
clear cut area. Continue downhill on this
trail through the remaining forest and
ultimately to a bluff with panoramic views.
Follow the trail
downhill to return to the Hobart Gap where
you’ll retrace your route back to the
parking area.
