Walupt
Packwood, WA
Land Manager: Gifford Pinchot National Forest - Cowlitz Valley Ranger District
Walupt Horse Camp is located one mile west of Walupt Lake. It is a 9-site full-service horse camp with gravel interior roads, spurs and parking area. Four of the sites are double sites. Some of the units have easy RV parking. Access is by generally rough gravel road (about 20 miles). A trail out of the campground, to the upper end of the lake, leads to the Goat Rocks wilderness and offers outstanding riding. The campground is located at the end of FS Road 2160 past Adam's Fork. It is at an altitude of 4,000 feet so in most years it doesn't open until at least mid June. The horse campground is somewhat more rustic than the regular campground with highline horse tethers.
