A brief message from the Wisconsin Horse Council
The Wisconsin Horse Council welcomes you and invites you to come, explore and experience Wisconsin horse trails. The varied landscape of Wisconsin presents an undulating canvas that allows riders to explore the bluffs and valleys of the Driftless Area of Southwestern Wisconsin, the oak savannas of the Central Sands Region, the cliffs, dunes and beaches along the Great Lakes and the deep forests and rivers of the glacier-carved Northwoods. The horse trails of Wisconsin have something to offer everyone from a leisurely ride on one of the many linear rail trails like the “400” trail near Reedsburg, to riding through restored native prairies that you will find in Lapham Peak State Park to riding a trail leading past rock outcrops or unique geologic features in the Kickapoo Valley.
The over 1000 miles horse trails of Wisconsin lead you through some of the most scenic and colorful terrain in the Midwest. Spring paints the woodlands and prairies with a bouquet of wildflowers, lush shades of green follow in the summer; fall sets the forests ablaze with its reds, yellows, and oranges, while winter covers the landscape in a resplendent white. Be sure to have your camera ready to snap a photo of not only the scenic beauty, but the bounty of birds and animals that adorn the Wisconsin landscape along the many trails.
Remember, whether you are enjoying a day ride, a quick morning ride, or spending some time during a camping experience, Wisconsin has a horse trail for you.
Visit the Wisconsin Horse Council web page www.wisconsinhorsecouncil.org or stop by our Facebook page and tell us what you thought of our trails or feel free to ask questions.
