How to Safely Store Your Trailer

If winter in your area means staying close to home here are a few tips to keep your horse trailer ready to roll in the spring.

Here’s a great tip from TrailMeister reader Cheryl, of Michigan.

Keep your horse trailer from looking like this with these four quick and easy tips:

  • Store your trailer inside - If inside storage isn’t an option, a trailer cover will keep it looking good.
  • Give it a lift - Jack up your trailer and place jack stands under the frame so that the weight will be off the tires. Make sure not to place the stands or jacks on the axle.
  • Keep it charged - Remove the battery and store it indoors to remove any unnecessary load.
  • Grease any moving parts - You’ll help keep moving parts moving by lubricating any exposed items to prevent rust or seizing.
