Trail Details
The largest of the three Issaquah Alps, Tiger
Mountain is a close 30 minute drive from downtown Seattle. The
proximity to Seattle combined with stunning views of the Olympic
Mountains to the west and the central Cascades to the east make
Tiger one of the most heavily used trails in Washington.

3.5 miles from the
trailhead to the summit and a 7 mile roundtrip distance, and 2,600
feet of elevation gain allow you to bag several peaks in the course
of a day if you wish. I decided to soak in the views when I got to
the top!

If you want to park in
the main parking area you'll have to arrive early! While the lot is
large and accommodates about 150 vehicles it's usually full, forcing
hikers to park along the roadway of SE 79th street.
The start of the trail
winds through dark rainforest covered in moss and ferns. As you gain
elevation you'll notice the vegetation changing to adapt to a more
arid environment the closer you get to the summit.
Usually open year round
Tiger offers hiking when the higher routes in the Cascades are
snowed in.
