Little Si may
not be a lofty peak but its 1,576 feet
height does offer some impressive cliffs
that climbers practice on, as well as
inspiring views of Mount Si and the
Snoqualmie Valley. On a windy day the summit
howls and makes you feel as though you’re
many miles from civilization.
Little Si is
anything but a desperation hike for when its
big brother, Mount Si, is inaccessible.

Being so
close to downtown Seattle, and a bit lower
than Mount Si, Little Si makes for a great
hiking opportunity that won’t take an entire
day.
From the
parking area start climbing immediately.
You’ll climb about 700 fairly quickly and
then the mountain will give you a break for
a bit and stay level until it reaches the
base of Little Si and its sheer cliff walls.
The forest at
the bottom of Little Si is filled with old,
large, and dark trees, with boulders the
size of cars scattered here and there for
ambience.
Continue the
following the trail until you reach the
north end of the mountain. From here you’ll
begin the real climb to the summit in
earnest.

Once you
reach the 1,576 foot summit enjoy the views
and return via the same route that you
arrived. Total trip mileage is 4 miles from
parking area to summit and back to parking
area.
How to get
there - Drive Interstate 90 and take North
Bend exit 31, turn right on North Bend Way.
Turn left on Mount Si Road and cross the
bridge. The parking area and trailhead is
immediately to your left.
