Easily accessed from the interstate and allowing access into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Cayuse is a great destination point for horse and mule riders who want a taste of adventure while also having the amenities of a developed campground.

What to Expect

  • The campground has 11 single campsites and 3 double campsites.
  • Restrooms
  • Access to several popular trails
  • Corrals located in a common area with water troughs. (NOTES: Horses need to be sociable as the corrals share common boundaries.)
  • Corrals are not near the campsites.
  • Reservations are recommended - 1-877-444-6777

Rules and Regulations

  • Land Manager = Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest
  • Horses must be kept in corrals.
  • No high-lining or hobbles allowed in camp.
  • Weed-free feed is required of those using pack and saddle animals.

From Cle Elum, WA take Highway 903 North for 17 miles. To the end of the paved road. The campground entrance is on the right before the entrance to Salmon La Sac.
