Nestled in the wooded mountains of Hardy County, on the eastern “thumb” of West Virginia, Lost River State Park encompasses 3,712 acres with breathtaking panoramic views. And over ten miles of trails for equestrian day riders.

What to Expect

  • Day use only - No overnight camping for horse riders
  • About 10 miles of horse and mule friendly trails

Rules and Regulations

  • Land Manager = West Virginia State Parks
  • Horses may not be tied to trees or picket lines and use of pens is not permitted.


Driving Directions

Lost River State Park is located in Hardy County in West Virginia's eastern panhandle, ten miles north of the Virginia State line and 23 miles south of Wardensville, WV. Turn west off of WV 259 at Mathias, then follow the secondary road for four miles to the park entrance.
