Ahnapee State Trail
Ahnapee is a wonderful example of rails to trail projects with
30 miles of trails open to equestrian usage. As a bonus in Kewaunee County the trail is open for driving enthusiasts.

- Day Use Area only
- Restrooms and water are available at Sturgeon Bay, Algoma, and Forestville Dam County Park.
- This is a multi use trail so be prepared for hikers and bicyclists.
- Land Manager = Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
- A State Park vehicle sticker is required.
- A state trail pass is required for all people age 16 or older when horseback riding on trails.
- The Ahnapee State Trail corridor is open for horses from April 15 to November 15.
- Horse drawn vehicles are not allowed on the trail in Door County.
- Riders are asked to limit their use of the trail immediately following a heavy rainfall to reduce the amount of damage to the trail.
- Riders must pick up after their mounts, please kick any manure to grassy areas.

There are multiple parking areas for this trail.
- Sturgeon Bay – The Sturgeon Bay trailhead and parking lot is just south of the city along Neenah Avenue. The trail continues north off the rail corridor along Neenah Avenue and other city streets, crossing State Highways 42/57, into the city of Sturgeon Bay. - Forestville – There is parking at the Forestville Dam County Park adjacent to the Ahnapee State Trail.
- Algoma – There are three parking areas available near Algoma, along County Highway M just north of the city, on Navarino Street in Algoma and at the Algoma trailhead.
- Casco – Parking is available on County Highway C (Church Street) near the trail.
- Sunset Road – Parking is available at Harold Reckelberg Park on Sunset Road in Casco Junction, at the junction where the trail forks to Luxemburg, Kewaunee, and Casco.
- Luxemburg – The trail starts near County Highway AB and parking is available along city streets.
- Kewaunee – There are two trailheads in Kewaunee. The southern trailhead begins at Beardsly Street near County Highway E. The northern trailhead is near the intersection of State Highway 42 (Main Street) and Hathaway Drive. Parking is available at several locations in Kewaunee
