All trail user groups band together to open all trail segments that they are assigned by park staff. Several chapters of the Back County Horsemen of North Carolina were assigned the trails at Cataloochee. Progress is slow as the trees are very large and when 1 falls it usually brings down additional that completely block trails requiring riders to turn back.
