$100.00
Camp & Cinch Craft Clinic
Timber Ridge Horse Camp • Jamestown, Tennessee
September 11–12, 2026
“By the end of the event you’ll have built your own custom mohair cinch, taken your first steps into a meaningful craft, and spent two days enjoying some of Tennessee’s finest horse camping.”
Join me at Timber Ridge Horse Camp for two days of cinch-making, trail riding, campfires, and good company. We’ll spend our mornings at the looms learning the traditional craft of mohair cinch weaving and your afternoons exploring the trails of Tennessee’s Big South Fork on horseback.
This isn’t just a class. It’s a chance to step away from the noise for a few days, learn a practical skill, and spend time with people who appreciate horses, craftsmanship, and the outdoors.
Whether you’ve never picked up a weaving tool in your life or you’ve been around horses for decades, you’ll leave with a custom cinch built with your own hands and the knowledge to build many more.
What You’ll Learn
This introductory clinic focuses on building traditional straight-style mohair cinches. Along the way, we’ll cover:
- Choosing quality cinch materials
- Natural versus synthetic fibers
- Determining proper cinch size and fit
- How horse conformation affects cinch selection
- Essential knots and techniques
- Measuring cordage correctly
- Building a cinch from start to finish
- Design and accent work
- Care and maintenance
- Sources for future materials and supplies
The skills learned in this clinic can also be applied to breast collars, English style girths, belts, hat bands, key chains, and other woven projects.
Straight cinches are the foundation of the craft. Once you’ve mastered them, you’ll have the skills needed to move on to more advanced projects such as roper cinches.
What You’ll Take Home
Every cinch clinic participant leaves with:
- A custom mohair cinch they built themselves
- Loom
- Five-piece cinch-making tool kit
- Copy of It’s a Cinch!
- Instructional resources and ongoing support
Most importantly, you’ll leave with the knowledge and confidence to continue building cinches long after the clinic ends.
