What To Expect

You can camp with your horse at Howlock Mountain Trailhead and either highline your horse or rent a corral from the adjacent Diamond Lake Corrals rental-horse facility.
You’ll find plenty of fun nearby for non-equestrians, too, including fishing in Oregon’s best trout lake, boating, swimming, and bike riding (road and mountain).
Diamond Lake Resort offers a restaurant, motel, and cabins, plus rental canoes, kayaks, patio boats, paddle boats, and bikes. So come to Diamond Lake and enjoy the wonderful horse trails as well as all the facilities at lakeside.

Located 79 miles east of Roseburg and 83 miles northeast of Medford, the Diamond Lake area offers many miles of horse-friendly trails with terrific views of Mt. Thielsen (pronounced TEEL-son) and Howlock Mountain. Many thanks to Kim McCarrel for sharing this area!
