About

On Dec. 8, 1856, Mother Joseph and 4 other Sisters of Providence from Montreal arrived at Fort Vancouver to begin caring for the sick, the aged and the poor, and housing the orphans. The Sisters took dangerous, lengthy trips by horseback to the mining and lumber camps in Idaho, Montana, Oregon and British Columbia, where they begged for the provisions and donations to support their work. An article about the Sisters posted by my friend Suzanne Corey Gwynn, founder of Ladybug House, inspired the creation of the Giving Tour 2016. This event is an open invitation for horse loving persons, their family, friends, favorite local businesses and organizations, to saddle up in the tradition of the old \"Begging\" Tours during the month of April, to benefit Ladybug House, a children\'s palliative care and respite home for children and their families facing life limiting illnesses. Families come from all over the Northwest to Seattle Children\'s Hospital to receive treatment for their children. There are many hardships. Ladybug House, with a growing community of supporters, would be there to give these families much needed support in a home-like environment. The Giving Tour 2016 isn\'t just about your help in fundraising for a cause. The Giving Tour is about raising awareness and starting conversations. It is about support for each other, sharing stories if you wish, about why you want to ride with your 4-legged friend, individually or in a group, to support Ladybug House this April 2016. We would be honored to hear your stories. Let\'s get to know a bit about each other as we prepare for this event! We welcome your suggestions, questions and ideas on how to make the Giving Tour 2016 a success, a coming together of community, and a yearly celebration of Giving with a little (or a lot) of horseplay! As the event begins April 1, you can start to post your photos or videos of your rides, tell us all about it, and the supporters and friends you made along your journey. All of you will deserve a BIG THANK YOU and the heartfelt gratitude of the families and lives you will touch by rounding up support for Ladybug House. The 1st Annual Giving Tour, this April 1st thru 30th 2016, to benefit Ladybug House. Please visit ladybughouse.org to learn more about Suzanne Corey Gwynn and this wonderful organization. The funds raised can be donated directly to Ladybug House. Their 501 (c) 3 non profit tax id number is # 90-10205008. Online donations at ladybughouse.org or mail checks to: Ladybug house P.O.
